Carlos Sánchez Somolinos received his Ph.D. degree In Sciences (Physics, 2001) on photosensitive polymers for optical applications under the supervision of Prof. Rafael Alcalá at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). He joined the group of Prof. Kees Bastiaansen and Prof. Dick Broer at the Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) in 2002-2004 working on light processing of photopolymers for liquid crystal display applications. He joined ICMA at 2004 as a postdoctoral fellow. He is currently Tenured Scientist of the Spanish National Council of Research (CSIC) and Vicedirector at the Institute of Materials Science of Aragón- ICMA (CSIC-UNIZAR). His current interests focus on the development of functional materials and their micromanufacturing using advanced microstructuring techniques seeking for functional surfaces of interest in the areas of optics, biomedicine and sustainable architecture.
